Tree Wardens

I went to my first Tree Warden meeting this week. I was quite bizarre as I have never been involved in something like this before and talk of committees and treasurers made me feel slightly out of place.

Tree Wardens basically keep an eye on the trees in their local area, checking on whether any look ill or might need a bit of attention. They can also act as a liaison for local people who are concerned about trees in their area. We also get some training on the care and maintenance of trees.

The wife and I have been assigned to patches to keep an eye on. It is a good excuse to go out and walk round a park and take what is going on. I have just been round one of the patches over my lunch break and it was nice to get a bit of fresh air. I think we are going to start receiving updates of tree planting around Bournemouth. I am not sure whether this will be just for our patch or the whole of Bournemouth either way it should be interesting to see what is going on in terms of planting.

At some point our Tree Warden group will be constitutionalized - hence the talk about committees etc - we might even acquire a website. If we do I will post the link!
