Carrier Bag Consortium - making life easier to handle
Carrier Bag Consortium – making life easier to handle – I was looking for something else and came across this. I’m not sure we need a plastic bag tax more like a plastic packaging tax – most of the rubbish we throw way is cling film or wrapping off vegetables. Most of our plastic recycling is the same – cartons that stuff has come in. I’m sure if the packaging was taxed supermarkets would soon change their ways.
There are a couple of comments on the page above saying that plastic bags aren’t an environmental problem – the reason they are not is because in every kitchen in the land there is a drawer or cupboard overflowing with them. We feel guilty throwing them away as we know we should really reuse them hence they never get thrown away and you never see them on the streets!
I’m sure archeologists in the future will think that our main currency was plastic carrier bags, the number of them that have been stashed away like in crevices like we are saving them for a rainy day.
I am trying to cut down on plastic bag accumulation – I have put a couple in my work bag so that should I need to pop to the shops I will have one handy to re-use. Also we bought some heavy duty bags to do are big shop which if we over fill we know we’ve spent too much!
By the way I was looking for carrier bag holder. If that version is a bit to slick, maybe your taste is a bit more old fashioned. Despite not particularly liking ‘the maid’ is does have the advantage of being able to hang it on the back of door!
