8 ways you can help the third world
I was just looking at an article that my other half found the in the Sun last week. It lists 8 ways of helping the the third world. I have just noticed that 3 ways to help are buying fairtrade goods – which I think is a bit of a cop out.
In case you are interested the 8 ways are:
- Drink fairtrade coffee
- Adopt a child – look at actionaid.org.uk
- Be a thoughfule holiday maker – e.g. don’t eat at Mcdonalds when you are in Nairobi.
- Give a goat – this is a goody – look here: Oxfam Unwrapped
- Buy fairtrade food
- Wear fairtrade fashion
- Listen to music – this is bit iffy you are supposed to download the mp3 of Sgt Pepper from Live8
- lend a hand – volunteer for something – they specifically mention VSO
As two extra to make up the repeat fairtrade one how about:
- Recycle your old mobile phone – see Bring Bring
- Donate you old computer – see Computers for African Schools
I think I might be repeating myself – but never mind it was hard enough finding these.
