Recycling is quite difficult

When we moved to our new house we decided we would try and recycle more stuff. We started doing it and it cut down our weekly rubbish to one black bag from about two and half. Our local council has a doorstep recycling scheme but they only collect cans and paper. Which is good but I find it slightly odd combination - why not glass and card as well? It’s can’t be that big a leap.

We also have to use a blue plastic bag which can be a bit annoying. I say it’s annoying as you can’t really find a place to put it - wherever you put it, it just flops about looking untidy. Although saying that we have a general problem with the untidiness of our recycling area in the kitchen. After about two weeks the area start to look a bit like a landfill itself. At the moment we are using cardboard boxes to contain the stuff but at some point we are going to get some nice bins or boxes which will hopefully make life a bit easier.

My last issue is actually taking all the stuff to the recycling center - as I have said we leave it quite a long time before actually recycling the rubbish and we need to drive to the recycling center to get rid of it all - this seems it bit wrong to me - I trying to use our car as little as possible at the moment - this brings me back to the doorstep scheme - if the bin men are out and about why not pick up all the recyling at the same time?
